Global Anchor is a non-profit organization, supporting the development of Open Source Hydro Power solutions for Rural Electrification. We want to provide robust, low-maintenance, low-cost, highly-capable and safe machines that will increase the proliferation of hydroelectricity and make a significant contribution to remote area electrification in a sustainable way.
As part of the Open Source movement we hope to simplify the creation and sharing of micro hydro power machines to satisfy energy needs and bring light to remote areas.
By doing so we are supporting the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and want participate in the 2012 United Nations International Year of Cooperatives
"Co-operatives are a reminder to the international community that it is possible to pursue both economic viability and social responsibility."

We filmed an image movie at the UN University for Peace in Costa Rica in December 2011 with different speakers from all over the world. We are happy to present the edited version here now. Check it out:
VISION and MISSION STATEMENT
Our Vision is to empower people in rural / remote / off-grid areas to satisfy their energy needs in a environmental friendly, renewable and self-sustainable way.
Our Mission is to develop micro hydro power machines, make our knowledge accessible, encourage people to use this knowledge to build their own machines (Do It Yourself Construction Kits) and thereby support rural electrification.
ROAD MAP
According to our preliminary road map we are able to start prototyping our first design (1KW Banki Turbine) in January 2012. All this depends strongly on YOU! Please help us to bring light into remote areas, by donating to this project and contribute with your skills.
